No it is not.
It’s still a plasticky piece of bad engineering.
Although the Maxx SS is the least shitty, it’s still not good.

It was starting to grow on me. That is, until a certain Maxx which was driven by an assshole in my previous apartment parked in our spot multiple times despite being warned about being towed. The management kept dragging their feet on it. They finally got towed the day we moved out. Kind of made it sweeter, towing them just out of spite since we weren’t using the spot.

Well, I passed my road test in a 98 Malibu, a gen. before that one. Comfy but otherwise terrible.

Here is the baffling thought of the day. GM put the Saab 9-3 on the same platform as the Malibu. Then they gave the Malibu a hatchback version but not the Saab! What?! Why in the good lords name, if you’re going to have the Malibu and Saab on the same platform would you make the hatchback a part of the Malibu family.
And like someone else mentioned, if you’re going to spring for a maxx, get the SS. It had hydraulic steering that people said was quite a bit better than the normal maxx.

It didn't have an available V8. The Impala SS did but the Malibu SS just got the 3900 V6.

We had the sedan version and it was a truly horrible car. Constant problems. Incredibly cheaply made with the shoddiest build quality I've seen this side of a Chevy Cavalier. And this was when the car was only 3 years old.

I passed mine in a taurus. Pretty bland. No brake or steering feel. And that’s compared to a 4Runner (which the brakes and steering are surprisingly good on)

I’d buy one, but mostly as a beater. It would be perfectly adequate for errands, winter driving, or a camping trip. Door gets dinged in a parking lot? Who cares, it’s a Malibu Maxx.
I’m pretty sure 16 year old me would have tried getting air in this car off of a bumpy back road.

Nice. The Sequoia’s brakes are very good for a 3 ton SUV... I think it’s officially 126 feet from 60mph to 0. That’s pretty good for anything that isn’t a sports car.
The steering doesn’t feel like it’s connected to anything. It’s designed to make it easier to maneuver.

SS is the one to go for. It’s a good handling, practical, *mechanically* solid vehicle that’s reasonably quick. I’d go with cool on that.
The others are solid but generally meh vehicles. I’d still take one over a Camry though.

The car I currently own was a family owned car as well. I came home from the hospital in it. And then it was sold to my grandfather when his Tercel wagon began to have many problems. And then I bought the 4Runner from him.

Simply because they’re the best. What company makes supercars that melt your ears and also the toughest trucks on the planet. And don’t forget the ultra reliable commuters and the tuning legends.

I really want to rallycross a camry. Even my dad’s 4 cyl has some decent speed to it. Butt dyno says it’s almost as quick as a B5 S4 wagon.
